Ensuring permanent access to scientific knowledge

Version 1.0 | Updated: January 2026

Our Commitment

Periódico Tchê Química is committed to ensuring permanent, long-term access to all scientific content published since 2004. We use a redundant preservation approach through multiple trusted platforms, ensuring that scientific discoveries remain accessible to future generations of researchers.

Triple Layer of Protection

Three independent systems ensure no content is lost

Portico

Period: 2004 - present

Type: Dark Archive

Operator: ITHAKA

Permanent backup archive. Content is preserved but only becomes accessible in emergency situations (journal discontinuation, severe technical failures).

Preservation Policy

1. Scope

All articles published in Periódico Tchê Química since 2004 are preserved in at least two of the three mentioned platforms. Articles published since July/2021 (with DOI) have triple preservation.

2. Preserved Formats

  • Complete article PDF (final published version)
  • Structured metadata (title, authors, abstract, keywords)
  • Persistent identifiers (DOI, ISSN)
  • Supplementary material (when applicable)

3. Standards Followed

  • OAIS (Open Archival Information System)
  • Dublin Core for metadata
  • PDF/A for long-term archiving

4. Emergency Access

If the journal is discontinued or the main website is unavailable for more than 30 days, content archived in Portico will be automatically made available to the public. Access through Zenodo remains always open, regardless of official website status.

5. Verification and Auditing

We perform quarterly verification to ensure all published articles are correctly preserved on all platforms. Audit reports available upon request.

Important Information

Cost for authors: Zero. Digital preservation is included in the Platinum Open Access model.

Cost for readers: Zero. Access via Zenodo is always free and unrestricted.

Duration: Indefinite. All three platforms guarantee preservation for decades.
